They're no slouches

The Obama administration has just made a very shrewd political move. Check this out. The administration just (in the words of the AP) released secret Bush anti-terror memos. Even though the Dow Jones Industrial Average just closed below 6800 - the lowest its been in 12 years - these memos will take centerstage for weeks. People will be so busy decrying the evils of the Bush administration, they'll forget for awhile that despite the Obama administration's gargantuan bail-out and all their rhetoric about hope, the economy continues to plummet.

Prior to the election, some of my friends believed that the wave of exhiliration at Obama's election would heal the markets' uncertainty and investor confidence would rebound in a matter of months. Guess not.

Am I advocating torture? Suggesting it be ignored? No. But let's recognize this for what it is - a very clever move on the administration's part. Keep the people righteously indignant about something that can't be undone to keep them from realizing your plan isn't working. I'm guessing this will lead to a political circus that will keep us from worrying about the pressing economic problems we should be primarily focussing on.

I wonder who will be first to suggest Bush be investigated by Congress or even tried in court ... ?

Well played, Barack. Well played.

Is this a reasonable theory?

The milk I buy seems to go bad before the due date on the jar (that's right, I buy it in glass jars). I also drink directly from the jar. My theory is that maybe the bacteria and/or enzymes from my mouth get into the milk and speed the spoiling process (whatever that is). Whadya think? Am I onto something?

Come on now ...

I've said it many times before, and I'll say it again - Obama enjoys celebrity that no other American politican ever has. JFK was very popular, but he didn't enoy this level of celebrity, at least not while he was alive.

So what brings me to share this little observation with you.? This article about how Obama bumped his head on the helicopter when he was getting in. Yeah ... this was in the news. A friend originally emailed me the article from CNN. It's also in the New York Daily News and Chicago Sun Times, to name a few.
I know it's just a blurb, but why does anyone think we care? Why do we want to know this information about ... anyone? The kind of coverage Obama's getting is strikingly similar to that of actors, athletes, and musicians.

This is getting out of hand. Pretty ridiculous.

Yet again

More shameless self-promotion. Go check out another video I posted on Cine-men.

More shameless self-promotion

Micah seems to be posting a list of top albums of 2008. Not sure I agree with all of his picks, but in the spirit of tri-partisanship (that's right, tri - we have resurrected the Anti-Mason party) I will not pick on any of his picks and post a great video. Go check it out at Cine-men.

Best online shopping interface ever

For awhile now I've been loving Amazon. I used to dislike it because it took a way bigger commission than half.com or ebay. But aside from that frustration, I'm finding that it's a great place to shop.

I mostly buy mp3's from Amazon. They have a great selection, good prices, 256kbps songs, no DRM, and really great sales every week.

And now, they have developed the best shopping interface I've seen yet. Check it out.

This ... is ... awsome ...
